The village also has a parish church, Methodist and Baptist chapels and is ten minute walk from the Quaker meeting house at Colthouse. There are many leisurely walks in the area, including the nearby Forest of Grisedale with its visitor centre and Tree Top walk experience. The Lakeland Fells are never far away for the more energetic walker, both Coniston Water and Windermere are ten minute drive away for a variety of water sports. Esthwaite Water has easy access for the fisherman by rowing boat from the local Trout Fishery. Redgate Smithy is in the heart of South East Cornwall, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, near the village of St.Cleer, and three miles north west of Liskeard. We are situated in a country lane just above the beautiful wooded Golitha Falls on the River Fowey. Lovely for walking! Built around 200 years ago, Redgate Smithy is now a friendly and welcoming B&B. Breakfast is cooked to order on the range, using local produce, and is served in the conservatory overlooking the garden - watch the birds while you relax and plan your day ahead! We have a lovely woodland garden that has a patio and other seating areas, and a large conservatory for guests' use at any time, plus comfortable beamed, well equipped cottage style bedrooms. At Redgate Smithy, we aim to provide you with a relaxing atmosphere, with all guests' rooms upstairs separated away from our own, each with their own colour TV, and tea & coffee making facilities. What we offer is a stay in a family home, with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We have two double and one twin room, all with en suite bathrooms with bath and shower over and colour televisions. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in each bedroom and the house is centrally heated. There is a separate lounge for guests with colour television and video/DVD. Tea and home made cake is normally offered on arrival. On day of arrival, rooms are normally available after 4pm (earlier by arrangement), but after 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays (due to fact we have cottage changeovers on these days). On day of departure, rooms must be vacated by 10.30am. In addition to cereals and toast, a full English breakfast (or any variation) is served around a farmhouse table, and home made preserves are usually available. Guests have the use of the swimming pool during opening hours from Easter to October (please note that guests must provide their own towels for use in the pool) and games room facilities provided for our self catering cottages. Information leaflets on local attractions and maps are available, as is a pay phone. We have plenty of off road parking and cycle storage is provided in a Dutch barn. Washing and drying facilities are also available in our "Wash House". There is no need to travel into Padstow for an evening meal as the excellent "Pickwick Inn" is walking distance - about 1/2 mile. The village pub, the Ring O'Bells, one mile away, also has a varied menu and a friendly atmosphere. It is a beautiful 2.5 mile walk (approximately 45 minutes) into Padstow, along footpaths and the Camel trail. We look forward to welcoming you!
