The Isle of Adventures

Officially the UK’s sunniest place, The Isle of Wight has the beaches to match, mile upon mile of golden sands, and less than two hours from London, it has to be worth a visit.
 Activities - The island boasts such a wide variety of activities even the die-hard sunbathers are often tempted away from the beautiful beaches to go and explore further all that the island has to offer.
Fossil Hunting - the island is one of the most important sites in Europe for fossil hunting and collecting; even the “Jurassic Park” favourites - the ‘Velociraptors’ - can be found. There are also numerous dinosaur museums with many life size exhibits, and they’ll even value your finds for you - who knows you might even strike it rich! So what’s good about fossil hunting? - well all you need is a hammer and perhaps a guide book and you’re away. Most of the top sites are also located on the beaches, so it’s definitely something to keep the kids amused whilst you snooze in the sunshine, and best of all its free!
Walking & Cycling holidays are a huge hit on the Isle of Wight: with around 500 miles of footpaths, 60 miles of coastline and untold cycling tracks you can’t go wrong, especially when you consider that around half of the island’s coast has been named ’Heritage Coast’ AND more than half of its interior is an ’Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ you really are spoilt for choice. Indeed the island featured a Walking festival in May of this year to celebrate its obvious walking pedigree. And let’s not forget probably the most famous of the Isle of Wight’s activities is, of course, Sailing and the world famous Cowes week - just one of literally hundreds of regattas held throughout the year. If you like things a little faster paced then don't forget the Nokia sponsored Isle of Wight Festival, held in Newport from 10th-12th of June and headlining this year with R.E.M. on the Sunday.
For the Golfer there is also plenty available with 8 courses ranging from 9, 12 and 18 holes available all reasonably priced and open to the public. But if you do get bored with all this or if you’re unlucky enough to catch some bad weather, then there are still plenty of attractions to keep you and your’s busy.
  
Attractions - Well if it was good enough for Queen Victoria, I guess it’s good enough for us! The beautiful Osborne House bought by Queen Victoria & Prince Albert in 1845 remains, almost as she left it when she died their in 1901 with many of the couples paintings, possessions and photographs still intact today. On a more modern note The Needles Park at Alum Bay features: Glassblowing, a Sweet Factory, a fabulous cable car ride and much, much more. Then there is the Isle Of Wight Zoo with the finest collection of Tigers in Europe, a Steam Railway, the Robin Hill Adventure Park, numerous vineyards, Butterfly & Fountain World, Seaview Wildlife Encounter, Amazon World, Dinosaur Isle and lots more top attractions. I really could go on and on, but you can decide what to go and see when you arrive, as you explore ‘The Isle of Adventures’.
