IN THE HEART OF THE NORTH OF ENGLAND you will find The Miners Arms set within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Easy reach of Carlisle, Durham, Hexham & Newcastle, the Lake District, North Pennines and Hadrians Wall.
At 1500ft above sea level in a designated area of natural beauty, The Miners Arms can lay claim to be the highest village pub in England.
If you like excellent food, great beer the warm feel of wood burning fires and friendly family hospitality or you just like drinking at altitude - you must try The Miners Arms.
THE MINERS ARMS is a traditional 1700's pub, built of sandstone and was the old village inn until about 1823 when it was bought by the London Lead Company. It is recorded that the rent was reduced on several occasions as trade was diminishing ~ the miners preferring books to drinks. In 1988 the Clark family brought the pub and renovated the bar area, converted the garages into a bunkhouse and in 2003 added the lovely conservatory restaurant.
TODAY it has a well established reputation for its culinary delights, real ales, friendly hospitality and comfortable accommodation. Alison has been running the pub for over 17 years and in that time her food has won many national competitions. We pride ourselves with our home made dishes which are made from fresh and locally bought produce. Our customers can choose from a very varied menu with some local recipes, as well as a good selection of world and vegetarian dishes. A visit to this wonderful part of Britain, and in particular The Miners Arms will never be a disappointment.
