Tudor Farmhouse is an idyllic haven away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A friendly 13th-century stone-built hotel in the centre of the historic village of Clearwell, just 250 metres from Clearwell Castle, on the peaceful fringe of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Clearwells history dates from Roman times and the village is dominated by the huge ramparts of a fine neo-Gothic castle. The owners take pride in the standard of comfort and hospitality at Tudor Farmhouse, whose features include massive oak beams and original panelling. There is a large, roughstone inglenook fireplace in the attractive lounge providing warmth and cheer in winter. The reception area looks onto the landscaped garden and 14 acres of fields. The bedrooms have been refurbished in traditional style. Those in the house are reached by a wide, oak spiral staircase. Others are in converted stone cider makers cottages and barns quietly situated in the garden and include 3 family suites. The candle-lit restaurant, awarded a two red Rosette, with its open stonework and exposed beams is the ideal setting in which to enjoy unhurried evening meals. Places of interest include The Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, Offas Dyke, Tintern Abbey, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, the spectacular Symonds Yat, Raglan and Chepstow Castles.

Chapel Cottage is a lovely 19th-century cottage that has been caringly extended to provide four star Guest Accommodation and genuine home from home hospitality in the delightful Forest of Dean. The White House is a well established and popular non-smoking bed & breakfast located on the edge of the village of Broadwell in the heart of the Forest of Dean. All our rooms have en-suite toilets, showers and/or bathrooms as well as tea and coffee making facilities and TV. A full English breakfast is included in the cost of a night’s stay, or if preferred, a continental breakfast is available. We have a secure cycle store for mountain bike enthusiasts, and plenty of parking space. The Heart of England tourist board have given the White House a 3 diamond (◊◊◊) rating. Within a hundred yards of our front door lies the start of miles and miles of forest with it’s labyrinth of paths and cycle tracks, hidden lakes and ponds, and it’s varied wildlife. Here the patient and quiet walker can see rare birds like Goshawks, Kites and Wrynecks, and at Symonds Yat, the Peregrines, that every year raise their young on the sheer cliffs over-looking the River Wye. While deeper into the forest you may be lucky enough to see some of the many Deer, Badgers and Foxes that abound. If you’re really lucky (if that’s the right word) you may even get to see one of the fabled “Big Cats” that are being seen more and more.
