Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises, including the balconies. There are eleven rooms:- five doubles, four twins, one family and one single. Rooms at the front of the hotel have sea views and two also have balconies where guests can sit out in good weather. There are two ground floor bedrooms that are suitable for guests with less mobility. There are five steps up to the front entrance, the dining room, bar and sun lounges are all on the same level.

Welcome to La Mer and to Eastbourne – the sunshine capital of the South! La Mer is a pleasant Edwardian building in Marine Road, situated just off the Royal Parade and within 100 yards of the sea and Eastbourne’s elegant promenade which stretches for 3 miles along the coast. The pier and the bandstand (where they have afternoon concerts and sometimes dancing!) are also close by as is the Wish Tower which has a super view of the coastline from their restaurant where you can have a drink and a bite to eat. Just one mile along the coast is the new Sovereign Marina and harbour village which has nice shops and restaurants and is well worth a visit if only to look at the yachts. La Mer is within walking distance of the town centre, offering the usual range of high street stores, cinemas, theatres, cafés, wine bars and restaurants and nearer to the guest house are also local shops, pubs and restaurants. In the surrounding countryside there are some beautiful Sussex villages, historic sites to visit, one of which is the Norman castle at Pevensey and of course the infamous Beachy Head! All bedrooms are attractively furnished and decorated, with colour television and tea/coffee making facilities if required. Some are en suite. ‘Full English’ or a lighter breakfast is provided in our dining room. There is unrestricted parking in Marine Road. Eastbourne has good rail links to London, Gatwick Airport and the South of England and offers excellent bus services in and around Eastbourne and further afield along the coast. This charming and elegant Victorian house was built in 1892 and is situated in a quiet road only 40 metres from the beach. Entering the hallway you will step back in time. It was in 1789 that Eastbourne entertained it's first visitors. George III sent the royal children to "Sea Houses" for their summer holidays. The idea that the air and sea water was "good for ones health" took hold and the yearly summer holiday idea began.
