For a look back to the past; Beamish Museum is a further 15 minutes and will ensure a full day’s entertainment. Alternatively; spend a day shopping at the Metrocentre; one of Europe’s biggest shopping centres (40 minutes by car). Similarly; the Yorkshire Moors and North East Coast are 45 minutes drive; or find the sleepy villages of Guisborough and Northallerton for Markets. Northumberland and York are approximately 1½ hours away.
