The Hope Anchor is a family run 3 star hotel, built in the mid 18th Century and set in Rye’s picturesque old town. It has recently been redecorated, and features some of the best views in town, across the Quayside and Romney Marshes towards Camber Castle and the sea beyond.

The hotel’s location is central, whilst also being very quiet. We are 10 minutes walk from Rye Station, and only 2 minutes from the centre of Rye, complete with its medieval buildings, antique shops, pubs and the Rye Museum. Alternatively relax in our ‘Harbour View Restaurant’ with its fantastic views and fresh, locally sourced food.

If traveling further afield, we are 1 mile from the harbour and the ‘Rye Harbour Walk’, a delightful walk through the local nature reserve. South Grange is situated in a quiet country lane within easy walking distance of the historic village of Northiam. The towns of Tenterden, Cranbrook, Rye, Battle and Hastings are within about 20km and offer a wide range of shops. There are six National Trust properties in about 20km and other attractions include a variety of gardens, including Great Dixter which can be easily reached on foot, Merriments, Hole Park and Pashley Manor, several vineyards and the Kent and East Sussex railway. Linda and Mike Belton, the owners, are very happy to suggest how to plan days out and maps are available on loan. Set in one and a half acres of mature gardens and woodland, South Grange is home to foxes and badgers in addition to much other fauna and flora including an excellent display of bluebells in the spring. Linda and Mike are both keen gardeners and are always pleased to show guests around the gardens and grounds. They also sell young plants to raise funds for a local charity for those who would like to return home with a reminder of their stay at South Grange. Breakfast can be taken on the terrace in the summer and will include eggs from South Grange hens in addition to home made bread and marmalade. Vegetarians and special diets (24 hours notice) are both catered for.

The Cinque Ports Inn is a traditional and friendly English pub, where you can enjoy the best of Shepherd Neame's real ale along with good lagers and ciders, in a clean and comfortable setting.Our cental location in Rye makes it easy to walk around our ancient port town. Apart from the fascinating history and buildings of Rye, there is a variety of restaurants to choose from (including ours!); a plethera of bars and pubs and a nightclub. All within walking distance. We are only one hundred yards away from the train station and the bus stop is even closer.
