Old Sowtontown Is two self-catering holiday cottages, The Barn & The Shippen, set on the western edge of Dartmoor within the National Park boundary.
Facilities & Attractions For very reasonable prices, these cottages offer ideal accommodation for walking, hiking or riding holidays. The open moor at Cox Tor is only a ten minute walk up a 'no through' lane. Stabling is available should you wish to bring your own horse(s).
Local Village Tavistock (best market town 2004)is 3 miles away, and Peter Tavy, the nearby village, has a church and a C15th inn serving good food.
The Barn is larger and is suitable for up to 6 people while the Shippen suits 2 4.

April Cottage is a victorian cottage built in 1857 and which is just a few minutes walk from the ancient market town of Tavistock. It retains its Victorian character yet offers modern facilities like central heating and double glazing.
All rooms are beautifully furnished and have all the facilities you would expect from a 'Silver Award' and 'Four Star' bed and breakfast. We offer en-suite facilities as well as colour televisions, radios and tea and coffee makers.

Westward is a Grade II listed house build in the 1890s and was first owned by a mine captain. The rooms are comfortable and modern and our walled garden offers a tranquil retreat after a day's sightseeing.
We have three bedrooms, comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated. The spacious family room has an en-suite bathroom with a walk in shower and a double and single bed. The double room overlooks our delightful rear garden and also has an en-suite shower room. Located on the ground floor, our single room is compact but cosy with its own shower and toilet located on the floor above.
Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and colour television. The double and family rooms also have video recorders and guests are welcome to make use of our small but varied film library.
We offer a full English breakfast, prepared using local produce, including award-winning sausages from Howells Butchers of Tavistock. A vegetarian option is always available.

The cottage is just a 5 minute drive from the ancient stannary town of Tavistock (voted Best Market Town in 2005) which provides excellent shops, pubs/restaurants and many other interesting activities. An ideal base for exploring the south west with easy access to Dartmoor and the outstanding peninsula coastline. We are also located just off the Devon Coast to Coast (Route 27), part of the national cycle network.

The Linhay is a separate building affording Devon self-catering / B&B facilities in a tranquil setting surrounded by open moorland.
The self-catering accommodation comprises of a huge family bedroom, large bathroom with separate shower and roll top bath, and a large living room. This room has a well equipped kitchen with oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a washer/dryer. It has both dining and comfortable lounge areas.
Sleeping accommodation is very adaptable and single beds or a cot may be added to the double bedroom and the 2 single and double futons in the lounge also convert into beds.
The self-catering accommodation is centrally heated and the lounge and bedroom have TV/DVD`s. Furnishings are by Laura Ashley and bathrobes, slippers, bath sheets and Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries are available for guests use. All visitors are welcomed with a Trug of Champagne, chocolates, tea/coffee and a freshly baked cake from the Aga.

A lovely 19th Century Coach House on the edge of Dartmoor, close to historic Tavistock and the Tamar Valley. The valley is of outstanding natural beauty, yet only 15 miles from Plymouth. Unfortunatley we do not have the facilities to cater for under 5 year olds
The Coach House was built on a site, which was originally an Anglo Saxon settlement in 850 ad. It was built by The Duke of Bedford in 1857 to his own design as part of a model farm, and it was sold in 1988 and converted to a high standard. In 1996, an adjoining property was property was purchased to give the hotel a total of 12 bedrooms.
