Attractions
William Wordsworth and Hawkshead

William Wordsworth lodged at 'Ann Tysons' whilst attending the Hawkshead Grammar School, 1779 - 1787. More recently the children's author Beatrix Potter has lived in the Hawkshead area at 'Hill Top' Nr Sawrey. Both are now commemorated with museums in the village.

The village of Hawkshead is a place of charm & character with an atmosphere that is timeless. Many people enjoy its whitewashed buildings, narrow streets, alleyways, quaint corners and cobbled streets.

Hawkshead was once an important market town for wool until the industries decline in the early 19th century. It's now a popular holiday / vacation destination with visitors to the Lake District. This is due to the atmosphere of warmth and friendliness which is apparent from the moment you arrive in Hawkshead.

Within easy reach of Ann Tysons B & B ( Hawkshead ) are the honeypot towns of Ambleside, Coniston, Windermere, Bowness on Windermere, Grasmere, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale and Keswick plus the many attractions, historic houses and castles. As well as this there are an abundance of lakes, tarns and mountains to explore.

FISHING

Anglers keen to cast a line whilst visiting the Lake District will be delighted by the diversity of the fishing available in and around the Hawkshead area.

On the doorstep Esthwaite Water rates as one of the finest waters in the Lake District. Predominanantly a trout fishery, Esthwaite Water also boasts both excellent pike and coarse fishing. Ann Tysons House (B&B) are now offering full use of the 'hotel permits' issued to us
