Attractions
Should you wish to visit the popular tourist towns and villages of The Lake District you are not far away.
There are lakes within easy reach, the nearest being Coniston, but Lake Windermere is only a little further. Then, there is the awesome Wast Water, lovely Ennerdale Water and the beautiful Eskdale valley with the ever-popular narrow gauge railway. Whilst up the coast, the attractive towns of Whitehaven and Maryport are memorable.
There's a glorious choice.
Black Combe House is only 5 minutes from the beach, the golf club, an equestrian centre , nature reserve and beautiful countryside. Here, where the mountains do reach down and touch the sea, time passes wonderfully slowly.
The coast line is a magnet for all kinds of people. Quiet strollers hand-in-hand, or families with a dog or two, kite-flying enthusiasts mastering the wind and sand-yachters waiting patiently for acres of smooth sand to harden into a runway.
Not far from Black Combe House, you can catch a train and travel along the coast both North and South. A delightful way to relax and enjoy the view.
For those keen to capture the subtle colours of Black Combe Country, there's endless scope for painters and photographers, and if contours are your challenge, climb Black Combe and wish for more time in this barely-discovered corner of Cumbria.
