Beautifully decorated and furnished, with a mix of the modern and the traditional, this village pub-restaurant offers great food, great service and individual bedrooms for the weary traveller. The interior is light and comfortable, and retains the original charm, with oak and slate running through the pub. The name comes from the roofing slate once mined in the village.The A La Carte menu is based on fresh and locally sourced ingredients, which changes regularly to follow the seasons. We have an extensive wine list, and cask ales from our local brewer, Everards, who were named Pub Company of the Year 2007. We have been awarded an AA Rosette, are included in various pub guides, and have also been named in the Top 10 New Gastropubs in the country by The Times, March 2007.
