Courtland Hotel is just 5 minutes from the coach station and just 10 minutes from the train station. However, we offer a ‘pick-up’ service for our guests.

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre

The theatre, designed by Elisabeth Scott was erected in 1932. Peter Hall formed the modern Royal Shakespeare Company in 1960 and the company became known as the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1961 - Scott's building was then renamed the ‘Royal Shakespeare Theatre’.

Shakespeares Birthplace
Enter the house where William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and discover the world of the Tudors. The sensational garden exhibits trees, shrubs and flowers mentioned in the works of Shakespeare. All the family rooms have been recreated with furniture, utensils, wall hangings and food of the period.

Stratford Racecourse
Steeplechasing has taken place at Stratford Racecourse since 1755. Nowadays, there are fifteen meetings a year, most of which take place within the summer months. The racecourse has a new glass-fronted Grandstand (opened in 1997) and has won a major award for the care of the racetrack.

Mary Arden Cottage
This timbered farmhouse was the home of Shakespeare's mother before she married John Shakespeare. It is now home to a collection of interesting heritage features. The grounds display a working blacksmith, falconers and livestock.

Warwick Castle
This is the finest Medieval Castle in England. Making its presence felt over the banks of the River Avon, the castle is only a few miles from Shakespeare's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon.
