Grasmere
Grasmere is in the heart of the Lake District. Within easy reach are the towns of Ambleside, Bowness, Keswick, Hawkshead, Coniston and Windermere. Attractions can be found around nearby areas of the Lake District. Castles, museums, wildlife parks and Brock Hole (Headquarters of the Lake District National Park) are within easy reach of the Dale Lodge Hotel
Grasmere lake lies to the south of the village, around which there are some gentle walks for those that prefer the lower ground. For those that prefer a greater challenge, in Grasmere you're centrally situated for taking on the craggy peaks of the Scafell Pikes, Helvellyn, Skiddaw and the Langdale Pikes.
Grasmere is traditionally the quietest area of the Lake District but still has great appeal. The Dove cottage and Wordsworth museum are the main attractions as William Wordsworth, like Beatrix Potter, is commonly associated with the area as the beauty gave them both inspiration.
The Lake District
Hailed as the greatest of the eleven national parks in Great Britain, the Lake District boasts a place for every taste.
Sit and listen to the waves lap at your choice of lake. Gently stroll around the number of towns situated within the Park. Hike over anyone of the many peaks. Climb up remarkable cliff faces. Cycle down country roads or country paths. Gently cruise the lakes. Canoe down lakeland rivers. Etc, etc, etc.
Your choice of break is the only thing you need to worry about, because once you have decided there is somewhere to partake.
There has been many books published and many of our great works have been inspired by the atmosphere and breathtaking surprises that confront you at every turn.
