Greenwell Hill Farm Cottages

These traditional Weardale farm buildings have been sensitively converted to attractive sandstone cottages, offering a high standard of self catering accommodation which includes modern central heating, double glazing, television, video & DVD, spring water supply and en-suite bathrooms. Modern kitchen facilities include fridge freezer, microwave and an electric oven. Comfortable and prettily furnished, this farmhouse style accommodation boasts honey pined furniture, fitted carpets, natural pine beams and wood burning stoves.

Sleeps six plus one. Downstairs bedrooms include one with a solid ash four poster bed, one family room with a double and two single beds. Upstairs is an open-plan lounge with kitchen providing outstanding views of Weardale.

The Byre

The Greenwell Hill Farmhouse

Sleeps ten or more. This spacious and comfortable farmhouse has been recently refurbished and enjoys its own large secure garden with lovely views over the Wear Valley. The ground floor entrance leads in to the modern fitted kitchen / Dining area. Comfortable sitting room with log burning stove and entrance to garden. A twin bedded room. Shower room / WC with flush to floor shower cubicle. The first floor has a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Family room (1 double + 1 single bed) with en-suite bathroom. The third bedroom has three single beds and en-suite shower room. Garden, with furniture, parking, barbecue.
The Granary

Sleeps eight plus one. With four en-suite double rooms, one upstairs and three downstairs the Granary is ideal for small groups or friends. The kitchen, and lounge/dining room are also located upstairs providing views across open farmland.

The Gin Gan

Sleeps five plus two. The main living area is most unusual being circular and 22 ft in diameter. Used originally for an animal to drive the millwill and grind the corn. It is ideal for large family parties, corporate meeting and small functions. The kitchen is modern and well equipped.

Located between Wolsingham and Tow Law in Weardale, Greenwell Farm Cottages lie in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as England's Last Wilderness. Once the hunting grounds of the powerful Prince Bishops of Durham, the breathtaking scenery offers visitors plenty to do.

Moorland streams flow into the River Wear where it makes its way through pretty Dales villages including Stanhope, Frosterley, St Johns Chapel, Fir Tee and Escomb. Wild meadow flowers and traditional dry stone walls complete this picturesque landscape and encourage birds and wildlife. Weardale is ideally located to access the numerous scenic and historical sites of County Durham and Northumbria and is within a short travelling distance of Durham City, Beamish Museum, Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. The surrounding Weardale countryside is a delight for families as well as cyclists, walkers, fishermen and birdwatchers.

Wild Meadow Flowers like Globe Flowers, Orchids and Foxgloves. Hunting Birds like Owls, Buzzards, Kestrels, Sparrow hawks and Red Kites Pippastrelle Bats, Roe Dear, Stoats, Weasels, Foxes and Hares.
