Description
Here at Greycroft you will find real North country hospitality set in the splendid scenery of Englands Last Wilderness.
The North Pennines are now established as an Area of Outstanding Beauty, and Alston, as its focus, has a wide variety of attractions, many unusual shops and a number of cosy pubs and good eating houses.
This beautiful mountain area is little known and still unspoilt, but the warm local hospitality, quite wooded valleys and old buildings make it well worth exploring.
Greycroft is set on a corner site with open views south across the beautiful South Tyne valley towards Cross Fell (the highest point on the Pennines). It is in the peaceful hamlet of the Raise, a five minute walk into Alston and is tastefully furnished to a high standard with our guests in mind.
Greycroft offers bed and breakfast accommodation with two beautifully appointed ensuite bedrooms. Both bedrooms are situated on the ground floor (with wheelchair access), have both a double and a single bed and ensuite bathroom (one with a shower cubical, the other with a shower over the bath). The rooms have tea making facilities, cotton sheets, electric blankets, easy chairs, TVs and many extras.
The bungalow is centrally heated and thermostatically controlled. We are a totally non-smoking household. We do not have a drinks licence, but you are welcome to bring your own
BIRDWATCHERS PARADISE!
We have an abundance of birds visit our garden, including the great spotted woodpecker and other birds in the area include the skylark, herons, buzzards, grouse, pheasant, blackcock and peregrine falcons, making it an ideal location for bird watchers. You may be lucky enough to see our neighbouring red squirrel family who come regularly to play in the garden.
The area is also home to many rare wild flowers and grasses including wild orchids and gentiouns.
