Description
Lake View Country House is a Lakeland stone house, situated in the picturesque village of Grasmere, which is in the centre of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria.
We have recently been awarded the 4 Diamond Gold award by the English Tourism Council!
The Bed & Breakfast (B&B) accommodation consists of four, individually-styled guest bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities and three with baths or whirlpool baths as well as showers.
Most of the rooms offer stunning views towards the lake and surrounding fells. In addition, there are three self-catering apartments located within the Guest House.
Stephen and Michelle look forward to the opportunity of making your stay in their beautiful home a special one and would ask you to note that Lake View:
- welcomes vegetarians, well-behaved dogs (by prior arrangement), and children, although we regret that we cannot cater for children under six years of age on a B&B basis;
- offers ample parking for its guests; and
- is a non-smoking establishment.
Attractions
Both the village of Grasmere and the lake itself are extremely relaxing places to visit during all four seasons, as different aspects of the valley's beauty are portrayed. Below are just a few pictures of Grasmere and some of its attractions at different times of the year, giving you a glimpse of the beauty you can enjoy through a stay with us.
Grasmere is located almost at the centre of the Lake District (8 miles north of Windermere and 12 miles south of Keswick) and therefore makes a good base for touring. If, however, you prefer to get away from driving during your break, there is a varied range of low and high level walking available to you from Lake Views doorstep. For example, Hellvellyn (Englands second highest peak), The Fairfield Horseshoe, Alcock Tarn, Helm Crag (the Lion and the Lamb) or more sedate alternatives, such as the Round of Rydal Water or following Grasmeres lakeshore.
For the culturally inclined there is the prospect of a visit to Dove Cottage, where William and Dorothy Wordsworth lived from 1799 to 1813, or the thirteenth century church of St. Oswald, which is the poets final resting place. Alternatively, you can wander around Grasmeres clothing shops and cafιs, sample the world famous Grasmere Gingerbread, walk by the River Rothay, which flows through the village, or visit the Heaton-Cooper art gallery.
