Description
A warm, friendly welcome awaits you at the Parva Farmhouse Hotel, by hosts, Peter and Angela Vrettos, in residence since August 2005.
This family run hotel is located 50 yards from the banks of the River Wye on the peaceful northern fringes of the picturesque village of Tintern, just a mile from the famous Tintern Abbey.
The Parva is surrounded by wooded hillsides and is a tranquil haven away from the pressures of the world, where traditional ideas of comfort, courtesy and good food are maintained in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The Parva is entirely non-smoking and we only take children 12yrs. of age and over.
This south facing stone building, rebuilt around the mid 17th C, offers a high standard of comfort and relaxation, with its large beamed lounge, intimate restaurant, well appointed bedrooms and small, well stocked suntrap garden, from which you can enjoy the stunning view of the Wye Valley.
With a selection of magazines and NO television, the lounge is an ideal place to relax. Serve yourself with a drink from the honesty barand sink into the leather Chesterfield sofas after a busy day sightseeing or walking, pass the time with other guests and discover other places to visit during your stay. This room with its thick stone walls and wood burning stove is warm in Winter, cool in Summer
Our 8 bedrooms (one with 4 poster bed) are individually decorated and furnished to a high standard, most with river and valley view. All rooms are en-suite with R/C colour television, radio alarm, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. We allow small dogs in two of our bedrooms for a small cover charge.
We offer an a la carte evening menu in our Inglenook Restaurant. With its 14ft beamed fireplace. this room, has an intimate, cosy atmosphere and is an ideal place to enjoy a traditional home cooked meal with a bottle of fine wine from our selective wine list, including Parva Wine, made from grapes grown on the hillside farm overlooking the Parva Farmhouse Hotel.
Attractions
In this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty there is plenty of beauty, tranquillity and atmosphere for you to absorb without too much exercise.
For the walker there are literally hundreds of walks and footpaths including the famous Offa's Dyke and Wye Valley Way.
For the sportsman we have 6 golf courses within a 15 mile radius (including the famous St Pierre International Course), riding stables nearby, fishing on our doorstep - both fly and coarse and shooting - sporting clays, rough and pheasant.
For the followers of the 'sport of kings' we have Chepstow Racecourse just 3 miles down the road.
The area is awash with castles, old ruins and ancient monuments, and this does not include the Royal Forest of Dean with its Roman Iron Mines, cave and railways.
If that is not enough, Bath, Cardiff, Bristol, Cheltenham, Hereford, Brecon Beacons, Ross and Hay-on-Wye are all within an hour's drive.
