Description
The Rat Trap is an historical country inn situated 1 mile from Usk and just 6 miles from Junction 24 of the M4. Set between The Forest of Dean and The Brecon Beacons, the hotel is perfect for a relaxing break in the South Wales Valleys. The new owners, who have a wealth of experience as hoteliers, have vastly revonated the hotel to the same high standards as the sister hotel, Lamphey Hall in Pembrokeshire and as such The Rat Trap has been transformed into an elegant yet comfortable country style hotel, offering excellent accommodation as well as wonderful a la carte cuisine. Sympathetically refurbished, the hotel displays levels of charm and character befitting such an establishment. The rooms are elegantly furnished, though maintain a level of comfort that ensures a pleasant and relaxing stay. All rooms feature facilities expected by todays discerning guests and many rooms also boast inspiring views over the valley, setting a picturesque scene for an enjoyable stay. With a talented team of chefs, the restaurant prides itself on a sense of variety. Using local produce wherever available a wide range of meals are available, ranging from bar meals and light bites to the more extensive a la carte menu. The fine cuisine is complemented by an extensive and truly excellent wine list, sure to please every palette.Usk is a small market town set in the Wye valley and features many quaint little shops to wile away the hours browsing in. Tintern Abbey, Monmouth and Chepstow are nearby and the breathtaking Caerphilly Castle is just a short drive away. The area is also perfect for relaxing walks through the Valleys, sure to complete a scenic weekend break at The Rat Trap Country Hotel.
