Description
Graeme and Sara offer you a warm and friendly welcome to the Headlands guest house, a traditional Victorian stone building situated on the south side of Kendal town centre close to the River Kent.
The Headlands guest house is centrally heated throughout with attractive decor, attention to detail and a charm that comes with buildings of this generation. We have worked with the styling from the late 1800s to create an environment that blends the old with the new. The Headlands is a non-smoking residence that is privately owned and run by Sara and Graeme Spenceley.
We offer twin, double, triple and family rooms, en-suite and all with TV, beverage-making facilities, a hairdryer and high standards. A good sleep is important and many of our guests have commented on the quality of our beds. Super-King-Size beds are available in some rooms. Wireless internet is also available to guests with their own laptop. Ironing facilities are also available.
Breakfast is taken in the bright dining room and offers a good choice from a full and hearty British breakfast to lighter options such as cereals, toast and fruit. If you have any special dietary needs, please just let us know. We use quality produce which is sourced locally wherever possible and we offer homemade bread and preserves. Packed lunches are also available on request.
In the lounge a log fire crackles through the winter months and you can settle down in one of our large comfy sofas and relax. In the better weather, a lovely hidden away garden terrace is just the place to enjoy the fresh air.
We have ample on-site car parking and easy access to the town and public transport links.
Attractions
Kendal is a lovely old market town situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, the English Lake District. The town merges the past with the present with a proud history alongside investment and development. Kendal remains an important town in this area and has much to offer todays traveller, with exceptional shopping, friendly people, a great range of restaurants, many attractions and incredible scenery. This unique blend makes it one of the most popular destinations for visitors in the UK.
The countryside is the main attraction but should you feel the need for other distractions, the nearby towns and villages offer welcoming pubs, restaurants, shopping, historic buildings and much more. We can make some recommendations if you wish. Outdoor pursuits are well served here with nature trails, walks, horse riding, cycle routes, fishing, golf, dry-slope skiing, climbing and so much more all catered for.
Culture too is high up the list in Kendal and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery is a good starting point. Open February to December, it is only five minutes walk from Headlands, beside the Parish Church and is one of Britains finest small galleries displaying an important British art collection. The nearby Brewery Arts Centre too has something for everyone, offering the latest cinema releases, theatre, music, comedy, dance and literature events. It also has a restaurant, cafe/bar and pleasant gardens.
