Description
Tre-pol-pen is a Victorian home of character situated in the busy conservation area of St Ives - a few dozen steps from the sea (Harbour Beach - pictured - is a one minute walk). Almost everywhere you might want to explore is close by and on the level - with no steep St Ives climbs to tackle! The nearest beaches are a few dozen steps away.

We have one twin bedded room with separate private bathroom, larger double with en suite shower room and a smaller double, again with en suite shower room. All rooms have TV/DVD, coffee/tea making facilities, radio alarm and hairdryer. Furnishings are modern with a fresh seaside feel. Our guest dining/sitting room has lots of books and brochures about the area and is available for guest use at all times. We also have a collection of DVDs for guests to borrow

Our scrumptious breakfasts will set you up for the day - see website for details.

Tre-pol-pen is located in the always bustling and often lively centre of St Ives, in what has become known as the gallery quarter, with all the beaches, restaurants, pubs, galleries, shops, cinema, library and other places of interest within a few minutes level walk away - surrounded by the narrow lanes and alleyways St Ives is famous for.

Both the railway and bus stations are under 5 minutes walk.

Please Note:

We do not have on site parking - there is a selection of long stay public car parks within a few minutes walk, at very reasonable rates, and we will forward full information on booking.

We welcome children over 8 years of age and unfortunately do not have facilities for pets.

Tucked away in the sunny shared courtyard of Tre-pol-pen, with its own separate independent access from the main house is "Potters", a chalet-style studio, once a St Ives potters studio, converted into spring/summer/early autumn accommodation for one or two persons. "Potters" is reserved on a room-only basis and gives you complete independence to come and go as you please.

The snug studio room has a double bed, TV/DVD, radio alarm, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, sink, table/chairs, heater, small wardrobe. It has its own private shower and toilet and is furnished like the main B&B in a modern, fresh, seaside style. All bedding, linen and in-house towels are supplied (bring your own beach towels, tea towels and washing up utensils). Tre-pol-pen's main dining room with books/DVDs is available for "Potters" guests at all times.

"Potters" at Tre-pol-pen is an ideal base for exploring St Ives (with level access except for two steps into the courtyard). The sea is a few dozen steps away and everywhere of interest is within a short level walk. There is a wonderful choice of restaurants and cafes catering for all meals (including breakfast!) within a few minutes walk.

Rates for 2008:
From Easter until end of October from £60-£70 per night for the studio

One night stays, if available, carry a £10 per night supplement

Please note: We will be happy to consider accommodating one child of 7+ in "Potters" if sharing the double bed with a lone parent. The studio cannot be adapted to a family room for two adults and one or two children.

Potters is only semi self-catering and does not have full cooking or food storage facilities. However, it gives the oppportunity to prepare simple meals if required.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Attractions
St Ives and its glorious award-winning beaches are quite unforgettable. Enjoy the clean golden sand and when the sun shines, the oh so blue sea, sometimes watching a pod of dolphins or an inquisitive seal playing in the bay.

The narrow cobbled streets of the town twist and turn and you will be sure to get lost to start with but you will always end up back by the sea! Explore the back streets of "Downalong" with its converted fishermans' cottages and net lofts - in high summer decked in brilliantly coloured flowers.

Enjoy browsing the many shops and galleries from familiar high street names to tiny independent workshops - seek out individual pictures, jewellery and crafts to take home.

Eating in St Ives has been revolutionised through the attraction the area has for top chefs and restaurateurs. Take your pick from a pasty picnic or a cream tea to some of the finest and freshest seafood in the country.

On a clear evening, sunsets in St Ives can be breath-taking. In the summer, take a bottle of wine, or even an supper picnic, to Porthmeor Beach and watch the sun go down.

The town has an international reputation as a centre of art. Visit the Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum - spend an afternoon at her studio and walk around the sculpture garden while seagulls swoop and cry overhead.

In high and peak season take your choice from a selection of boat trips - Seal Island perhaps, mackeral fishing, rib rides at high speed across the bay, or have fun in a self-drive motor boat

Take a Lantern Ghost Walk around the town with story teller Shanty Baba who brings tales of the spooky side of St Ives to life.

Climb to the chapel at the top of the Island for the most panoramic vista of St Ives and St Ives Bay and walk the back of the Island at high tide and watch the waves.

Use St Ives as a base for exploring the rest of Cornwall. To name just a few places of interest there is the new National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan (all under an hour away). More locally visit famous Lands End, St Michael's Mount, and the magical Minack Theatre.

St Ives is a walkers paradise. Within 5 minutes you can be out on the coast paths in relative peace and quiet. Take a morning stroll to the beautiful beach at Carbis Bay (and catch the train back!) or south to Clodgy Point - take your book and a picnic!

If you are into more serious walking, the coastal landscape around St Ives is second to none - these parts of the South West Coast Path are spectacular. Set yourself the challenge of walking 5 miles (to Zennor) or 24 miles (to Lands End) or even the whole of the Cornish part of the Coast Path -but perhaps not all in one stay!

In winter, St Ives has a different, quieter feel and the landscape comes into its own - enjoy walking the beaches and coastal paths, watching winter seas, or mooch around the town browsing galleries and shops - perhaps stopping for a hot chocolate (or something stronger!) or enjoy a winter-warming meal. Feel closer to the real St Ives and the local community. Relax and rejuvenate.
