Description
Padstow is the perfect location from which to explore this wonderful area and the Tregea provides the ideal place to stay.
Our lounge is an ideal place to relax after a hard day on the beach perhaps with a gin & tonic or in front our open fire with a good book.
Our aim is to provide a comfortable, relaxing holiday in one of the most beautiful parts of the country which is also the centre for a huge range of interest from all types of water sports including surfing, sailing, and windsurfing to walking, riding and golf. There are also many beautiful gardens and endless array of wild life from puffins to seals and basking sharks.
The Tregea is one of Padstow's oldest buildings (we even have the sales deeds for 1645!), and all of our rooms are typical of the period. So no grand state rooms or suites I'm afraid, just cosy intimate rooms, brimming with character and charm, as you might expect in one of Cornwalls best loved small hotels.
The hotel offers all the possibilities for family vacations or romantic escapes. Whether you need accommodation for business or pleasure. The Tregea Hotel Padstow will have the perfect solution for youre during your stay in Padstow, Cornwall.
At Tregea we have eight charming bedrooms, all providing en-suite facilities of either bath or shower.
Complimentary tea and coffee, plus plasma TVs and DVD players are available in all rooms.
Last year we opened our new Estuary Restaurant to great acclaim.
Under the direction of ex Rick Stein chef, Logan Thornburn our guests have been treated to some exceptional menus, please have a quick look at our estuary web page to whet your appetite further.
We look forward to seeing you and we promise - you will not be disappointed
Attractions
The area around Padstow has a history dating back thousands of years, evidence of which survives today at Harlyn where there are burial grounds thought to be from about 3000BC have been found.
Traces of flint tools have also been found below Trevose Head and bronze articles found on the Padstow - Fowey packhorse trail where some of the earliest bronze artifacts found in this country.
This evidence of local history flows on through the invasion of the Celts in 500BC, who brought their Celtic language which was the basis of the Cornish language which was spoken widely up until the eighteenth century, until the invasion of the Romans of the British Isles in 55BC.
However they only reached Exeter finding Dartmoor too much of a physical barrier but established a mutually beneficial trading relationship with Cornwall, and particularly Padstow, which lasted up until AD410 when the Romans forces withdrew. Roman Jewelry and trinkets have been found at Rock.
Now of course Padstow is one of the countries leading holiday destinations, famous through out the world fore its stunning crystal clean stretches of sandy coastline, its charming bustling fishing harbour and its many exciting restaurants including those owned by television chef, Rick Stein.
There is so much to do in Padstow and the surrounding area, from the camel bike trail, horse ridding on the moors, and any one of our staff will be delighted to help you plan your itinerary during your stay at the Tregea Hotel.
