Welcome to Underwood House

Nestling on the edge of woodland, between the picturesque Whicham Valley and Duddon Estuary, Underwood Country Guest House is a beautifully restored Victorian Vicarage with excellent facilites only normally associated with a first class hotel, reflected in the 5 diamond rating from the AA.

The cuisine is first class and only fresh local produce, much of which is grown in our own gardens and greenhouse is used for meals prepared by our very own Gourmet Chef.

Whatever your expectations Andrew and Wendy hope to meet and even surpass them at Underwood House. We are sure that once you have sampled the elegance and hospitality we can offer, you'll be inclined to stay an extra night or book immediately to come and see us again.

All of the rooms at Underwood House bed and breakfast in Millom have been individually designed and each one is named after the stunning view from the bedroom's window.

Every room has a King Size Bed, an en-suite bathroom, equipped with power shower, colour televsion, tea and coffee making facilites, hairdryer and of course bathrobes for the pool.

You can either book your room with Breakfast, which is included in the rate, or choose to join us for Dinner as well and sample the fine cuisine, prepared by our Chef.

Please note, all of our rooms are non-smoking.

The menus are selected to give you a choice of fine local produce prepared by your hosts, both of whom have international culinary experience.

After a relaxing night's sleep, start your day with either a healthy or hearty breakfast! With a choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt or a selection of local sausages, bacon, mushrooms and home grown tomatoes, served with eggs cooked to your liking, we're sure you'll be set for a day exploring the lakes and valleys.

We can also offer dinner, bed & breakfast.

We believe that you'll be pleasantly surprised by the high standard of cuisine that is on offer and the carefully selected wines that have been chosen, and of course a vegetarian menu is always available.

Situated in 8 acres of grounds, garden and paddocks, Underwood House offers the discerning guest comfort, luxury and hospitality in tranquil and elegant surroundings.

Underwood House also offers the choice of two lounges in which to relax, an elegant dining room, an indoor heated and air conditioned swimming pool with steam room (towelling robes provided) and a tennis court (rackets and balls available).

We also have conference facilities for up to 14 delegates in our separate "Bower Suite".
