West Vale Country House & Restaurant is an elegant traditional Lakeland stone built house, built in the 1890’s as a Victorian gentleman’s residence.

We are nestled deep in the heart of the Lake District National Park in the beautiful village of Far Sawrey which is only a short walk away from Lake Windermere and Esthwaite water.

The villages of Near & Far Sawrey are well known for their association with Beatrix Potter whose house “Hilltop” is only a few minutes walk away. The stunning location overlooks Grizedale Forest and The Old Man of Coniston. The surrounding area is a pot pourri of cultural, historic and architectural interest along with the historical village of Hawkshead nearby.

West Vale Country House is all about peace and comfort. All our bedrooms are individually furnished and decorated to a very high standard.

We enjoy an excellent reputation for both our food and service. Enjoy dining in our elegant AA Two Rosette Restaurant overlooking Beatrix Potter Country, Grizedale Forest and the Old Man of Coniston beyond, followed, should you choose to do so, by coffee and petit fours served in the lounge which also enjoys these beautiful views. Upon arrival at West Vale Country House you will find a complimentary decanter of sherry awaiting in your room.
