Description
Westward is a Grade II listed house build in the 1890s and was first owned by a mine captain. The rooms are comfortable and modern and our walled garden offers a tranquil retreat after a day's sightseeing.
We have three bedrooms, comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated. The spacious family room has an en-suite bathroom with a walk in shower and a double and single bed. The double room overlooks our delightful rear garden and also has an en-suite shower room. Located on the ground floor, our single room is compact but cosy with its own shower and toilet located on the floor above.
Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and colour television. The double and family rooms also have video recorders and guests are welcome to make use of our small but varied film library.
We offer a full English breakfast, prepared using local produce, including award-winning sausages from Howells Butchers of Tavistock. A vegetarian option is always available.
We are only a few minutes' walk from the town's varied choice of restaurants and pubs which offer visitors a choice of Thai, Mexican, Indian, Italian and modern European cuisine.
Off-street parking available, children welcome, pets allowed, front and rear gardens for guests' use. We are a non-smoking establishment.
A warm welcome and a relaxed family atmosphere is assured.
Attractions
TAVISTOCK is a charming market town with a good range of individual shops. Among them are Crebers, a long-established delicatessen offering high-quality produce both local and imported, Country Cheeses, an award-winning cheese emporium, and a variety of unique bric-a-brac, souvenir and affordable art shops. Nearby attractions include a modern leisure pool, miniature golf, a riverside park and the Wharf - our local entertainments venue offering cinema, theatre music and dance. Tavistock and its surrounding areas boasts an excellent range of pubs and restaurants within a short drive. There are several golf courses close by and a trout fishery on the outskirts of town at which you can hire rods and keep your catch.
Dartmoor National Park is only minutes away with its wide-open spaces and outstanding natural beauty. Tavistock is a popular base for moor walkers and is ideally situated to explore this vast wilderness.
