Holmhead has 4 cosy bedrooms, shower/toilet for each one. The bedrooms are fully carpeted, have central heating, armchair, radio, hairdryer, plenty of storage space and lovely countryside views. Lounge The light airy lounge is next to the bedroom, so it is easy to pop in and make your own tea and coffee (inc. decaffeinated), hot chocolate or hot beef drink from the trolley free of charge. At one end of the lounge the sofas are grouped near the colour television and at the other around a coffee table, near a small bar, with miniatures of liqueur, sherry, spirits etc., and cold wine or beer. There are plenty of board games, extensive local history library, jigsaws and childrens toys. Hi Fi Stereo, living flame fire and foot massager are provided for your comfort. The generous country breakfasts are something of a social occasion, when the day's plans and walks are discussed. Order as much or as little as you like from 'THE LONGEST BREAKFAST MENU IN THE WORLD'. Tell us the night before what you would like and at what time you would like to be served. Excellence award from British Tourist Authority. EVENING MEAL Eating at Holmhead is much more like going to a private dinner party than staying in a guest house. Food is served family style with beamed, stone arched dining room, furnished with antiques and a large candlelit oak table. There is no choice of dishes, but such is the standard of Brian and Pauline's cooking, that guests never seem to find this an imposition. If guests have any particular diets or dislikes, it would be appreciated if they would mention them when booking. Holmhead is fully licensed to sell wines and spirits and guests can choose specialty organically grown wine from our award winners list of wine from around the world. Many a lasting friendship has been forged across the four corners of the earth, from evenings around the table. There is a relaxing area in the dining room with a library. The menu is fixed price, the food always freshly prepared and attractively served, using farm and local produce. The meal consists of a starter, main course, dessert, and coffee with mints which can be served in the upstairs lounge if preferred. Evening meal is served at 7.30pm. We also have a 3 Star Self Catering Cottage available. The Cottage (for non-smokers) is a barn conversion which is an integral part of the farm, but with it's own back and front door. The lounge-diner with colour television and hi-fi has south-facing french doors opening onto the patio and car park. The kitchen area has ceramic hob and microwave/grill/oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and automatic washing machine. Tumble dryer available. The bathroom is large and equipped with bars, handrails and transfer platform suitable for the disabled.

We look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful county of Northumberland, and to our comfortably furnished 18th century house, situated in 400 acres above the River Tyne, looking over the market town of Hexham to the North Tyne Valley. Loughbrow House, a mansion house which dates from 1780, is comfortably furnished, with many antiques adding to its essential 18th century character. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Indeed, our guests have often remarked that this is not like a bed & breakfast, but rather as if they were being welcomed into somebody's home. Our beautiful gardens, (Mrs Clark's pride and joy!), we even feature in the Good Gardens guide for Great Britain, there is fresh home-grown produce and home baking, and typical country house ambience, will make your stay at Loughbrow House a relaxing, and wonderfully enriching experience. We are also half a mile from the nearest road so it is very quiet here, the perfect place to unwind! Children over 7 years old are welcome, although there is a small canal running through the grounds, so they must be supervised. There is secure off-road parking, and a garage on request. Loughbrow House is open all year round, except for occasional holiday breaks. We kindly request that all arrivals are between 5 and 6pm, arrivals before or after this time must be via prior arrangement please. There is also an additional charge for stays of only one night, the rate for this stay is £40. Dilston Mill is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a rich heritage from the Romans of Hadrians Wall to medieval castles, bastles and pele towers of the untamed 17th century Reivers and classic country houses and gardens. We are also close to all modern sporting (golf, fishing, watersports, pony trekking, cycling, walking) and leisure amenities and the vibrant entertainments, nightlife and shopping of Newcastle, Gateshead and the Metrocentre.
