Abbots Thorn is a 200 year old, traditional, stone-built, former Dales farmhouse that reputedly has the only round chimney stacks in the Dales. The house has been lovingly converted into a warm and comfortable place to spend your holiday. Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Abbots Thorn is a 200 year old traditionally built Dales house in Coverdale's principal village Carlton with stunning views south towards West Scrafton, as a guest house (because we serve evening meals) not just a bed and breakfast establishment! we have been awarded the VisitBritain 4 star award so you can be sure of a comfortable, friendly, warm stay. Abbots Thorn is centrally located to many places of interest including Leyburn, Middleham, Aysgarth Falls, Wensley, Reeth, Askrigg and Hawes to name but a few. We have three guest rooms available, two have en-suite facilities and all rooms feature country pine furniture, full central heating for those chilly winter evenings and tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and fresh milk. All rooms have a colour television and hairdryer. Each room has a large window, two of which have window seats so that you can enjoy the stunning views of Coverdale that unfold from our sunny, south facing location. After a good night's sleep, a full country breakfast featuring traditional, local produce awaits you in our informal dining room. For those with a lighter appetite we have a varied breakfast menu. We will be happy to supply packed lunches on request, advanced booking would be appreciated. Good food is important, especially when you are on holiday, so why not sample ours? If required, dinner is available each evening, except Sunday, offering you good, home-cooked food, using fresh, local produce whenever possible. We will be happy to cater for special diets. We don't have a drinks licence, but please feel free to bring your own wine and we'll do the rest. A warm welcome awaits.

Just outside the village of Aysgarth - in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park - Wensleydale Farmhouse is in a lovely setting with beautiful views all around. The front of the house looks toward West Burton in Bishopdale, amongst rolling hills. From the back of the house we have a view of our lovely church, St Andrew's, which is known for being the Mother Church of Wensleydale and for having the largest churchyard in England. And, of course, we are only five minutes' walk from the spectacular Aysgarth Falls. This triple-drop waterfall has featured in a number of films and television programmes, including Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner. Our location is idyllic and relaxing for those wanting a few days' break, and is an excellent base for touring the Yorkshire Dales - whether walking, cycling or by car. Wood View is one of Austwick's oldest farmhouses (circa 1700), being an elegant Grade II listed building situated on the village green. Containing many original features such as open fires and beams, it is the home of Sue and David Dewhirst, who provide a high standard of accommodation for discerning visitors to the area. Complimentary refreshments will be provided in the residents' lounge on arrival. This charming beamed room has an open log fire in the cooler months and is the ideal place to discuss the days' adventures, read a book or just relax. Wood View has six comfortably furnished, spacious double/twin bedrooms, each with en-suite bath or shower facilities. Each room also has a colour television, clock radio, hairdryer, hospitality tray and toiletries. Breakfast is a leisurely affair at Wood View, with generous helpings of traditional English food, as well as a vegetarian option. Packed lunches can be provided and flasks filled to fortify you during your day on the fells! Children over 12 are welcome. Well behaved dogs are accepted by prior arrangement. A private car park provides ample space for all guests' cars. Wood View is a completely non-smoking establishment. We do not have a drinks license but guests are welcome to bring their own wine and we will provide the glasses and a corkscrew.
