AMBLESIDE is at the centre of the Lake District National Park and at the hub of its road system. Practically everywhere within the Park can be reached within one hour's drive. Many fine scenic walks; both easy and more challenging; start from Ambleside; which is 1 mile from the head of Lake Windermere.

The house is personally run by the owners; Alan and Lynn Salter; who will ensure your stay is a truly relaxing one. The guesthouse is furnished to an excellent standard. There is full central heating to provide constant hot water and warmth after a day out on the hills. Guests are welcome to partake of the Low Wood Hotel leisure facilities which are located close by which boasts a swimming pool; steam room; sauna; jacuzzi and gym. The outdoor hot tub really does soothe those aches away and takes some beating. Beauty treatments and massages can also be booked for a special relaxing treat. In the summer months you will see the property adorned with flowers. This year Melrose won the prestigious award of the best guesthouse in the 'Cumbria in Bloom' competition. Melrose boasts 8 letting rooms of varying sizes to allow flexibility for guests. The rooms are all spacious and decorated to a very high standard. Refreshment trays are provided in all rooms as well as complimentary toiletries. The owners will ensure that you are well looked after to assure you have a truly relaxing break. The guesthouse is ideally located for walkers, cyclists and tourists alike, being close to the fells, cycling terrain and fine restaurants. Passes for a local Hotel Lesiure club are included in the cost to ensure you have a relaxing time. Croyden House is a traditional Lakeland stone house, built at the turn of the 19th century. It is owned and run by Sylvia and John as a guest house catering for holiday makers, whether they are walkers, climbers, families, or those who just want a relaxing break. Croyden House offers a warm and friendly welcome in a pleasant atmosphere. We have ten comfortable rooms, all tastefully furnished and some with views of Fairfield Horseshoe and Loughrigg. Croyden House is a non smoking guest house and has a private car park at the rear of the property. We offer guests accommodation in single, double, twin and family rooms and are happy to welcome groups. Each room has en-suite facilities, colour television, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Every morning before you start another day of your visit, we serve a generous home-cooked English breakfast in either our traditional or new Lakeland dining room.
