Michael and Jackie Scott-Hake extend a warm welcome to their high standards of personal care at their award-winning home. It has been thoughtfully refurbished, and the attention to detail is evident in the furnishings, antiques and china lovingly collected.
All of the twelve bedrooms are en-suite. One twin bedded room and two double rooms are on the ground floor. Every room has been individually decorated and furnished with every attention to detail.
Original period furnishings compliment the remote control televisions, individual heating thermostats, double glazing, direct dial telephones, hairdryers, and tea and coffee making facilities. Herbal teas are available on request.
In the larger bedrooms, three rooms have four-poster beds and two rooms have sleigh beds. Ideal for that special occasion, it makes your visit to The Edwardian a delightful experience you won't forget. Three of these rooms have sofas, which can convert into beds, when family rooms are required.
All other rooms have antique brass, wrought iron or period wooden bedsteads - one with a canopy over. There is a wide choice of single, double, twin-bedded, and family rooms.
Some of the south facing bedrooms at the sunny rear of The Edwardian have views towards Haldon Hills in the distance. At a high point on these rolling Devon hills is Haldon Belvedere (or Lawrence Castle).
The folly was built in 1788 by Sir Robert Palk in memory of his friend, General Stringer Lawrence, whom he had met in India. Palk was Chaplain of the East India company, and Lawrence became known as the Father of the Indian Army.
Enjoy a freshly prepared full English, vegetarian, or continental breakfast in one of our pretty dining rooms. We do not serve evening meals, as there are an abundance of excellent eating places nearby.
There is a large selection of local restaurants within an easy ten minutes walk including; pubs, pizzaries, vegetarian, bistros, and traditional fish and chips, through Thai , Indian, Italian, Chinese and Mexican cuisines, to renowned Chef, Michael Caines restaurant and champagne bar in Cathedral Close, and Westcountry Hotelier, Kit Chapmans £1.2 million Brazz restaurant at Palace Gate, whose menu includes pan-fried foie gras, seafood, red pepper risotto, and braised lamb shank.
