Built in 1750 by local businessman John Boydell, a leading publisher of engravings, silversmith and Mayor of London (1790). A grade two listed building the house boasts a fine cantilever staircase built of sandstone which was designed by a Flemish architect captured during the Napoleonic war. The house remained in the Boydell family ownership until the mid 1970s until converted into one of the leading hotels in the area.
