Pelham House is a 16th Century hotel decorated in contemporary style, situated in the historic town of Lewes nestled in the heart of Sussex.Most bedrooms overlook our pretty south facing garden, framed by views towards the South Downs. We aim to provide our guests with perfect facilities to enjoy their stay.All rooms are fitted with contemporary handmade oak furniture, remote controlled TVs, phones and high speed data points and have en-suite baths or luxury showers, a range of natural toiletries and comfortable beds with crisp white linen.10 minutes from Brighton and just over 1hr from London the House can accommodate up to 62 guests in a mixture of twin and double rooms all beautifully decorated and some benefiting from marvellous views over the South Downs.The Hotel is only a 2 minute walk from Lewes Train Station making it convenient for Eastbourne, Brighton, Chichister, Goodwood, Brighton and Plumpton Racecourses.The Garden is a town centre oasis with its lawn and traditional English flowers.Inside the house, one can marvel at the original Oak panel carvings of the Panelled room or at the fantastic ceiling mural commissied to Julian Bell by the owners of the House. Pelham house offers 32 bedrooms, accommodating up to 62 guests. Our rooms have been individually designed to blend the best of modern fittings and comfort whilst preserving many original historic features of the building. Quirky Lewes is full of Antique and local produce and shops and has played an important role in English history. The Saxon town was granted by William the Conqueror to William de Warenne, on return from Normandy in 1067; in 1264 it was the scenery for the Battle of Lewes; Tom Paine, writer of 'The Rights of Man' who later played a key part in the French revolution and went on to co-write the American Declaration of Independence was a also Lewes son.
