Dove House

1 of 2

Description

" Dove House is comfortable and friendly place to stay near the centre of Farnham – a beautiful Georgian town. It is in a quiet and peaceful location but not far from the M3 and A31.

Dove House offers two bedrooms – the Lavender room is a single room, and the Olive Room is a double room with a double bed. This room has great views over farmland and hills. They are both attractively decorated and comfortable, with plenty of wardrobe space and storage space for clothes. They have tea/coffee making facilities, with a selection of teas and coffees and home made biscuits.

There is a hairdryer and iron and ironing board available for guests. Broadband Internet access is available to guests at no extra charge.

Ros Knowles is the owner. She is a Reiki Master teacher and practises Reiki and other complementary therapies at home alongside running the B & B. Treatments are available for guests at a special price www.get-in-touch.net. She is a friendly host who enjoys welcoming guests and does her best to make sure everyone is comfortable and has all they need while they stay.

Ros cooks the breakfasts and they are served in the dining room. There is always fresh fruit, yoghurt and a selection cereals and toast available, and guests can choose from a cooked menu too – the traditional English breakfast is always on offer.

We are proud to offer home made bread and fresh wholefoods that are organic as far as possible. Our eggs are local free range. Ros is happy to cater for those with special diets as long as she is given enough notice when booking. Breakfast is served from 6.30am – 8.30 am. Ros is always happy to provide a packed meal for guests who would like an early start.

Dove House is not far from Farnham town centre – about a 10 – 15 minute walk. Farnham has a good choice of restaurants and pubs where you can get an evening meal or Ros can provide an evening meal by prior arrangement.

Guests can park quite safely on the road outside the house. The station is about a mile away, if guests need transport to and from the station, we can help. There are buses from the town to Guildford, Aldershot, Winchester, and Farnborough.

Dove House is ideal for people who are on business, or on courses locally, visiting family and friends, or party and wedding guests, or those just wanting a holiday break to visit the area. "

Attractions

" Farnham will surprise you! Just an hour's drive from London, on modern high speed roads, take the turning and you enter a different world. It is an old English market town with narrow streets lined with some of the finest Georgian architecture in the South of England with a parish church and castle dating back to the 12th Century.

Farnham has a host of attractions for visitors, and its historic character combines with the best of modern facilities.

With a wealth of tempting opportunities for escaping to the countryside, shopping, eating out, sightseeing, visiting galleries or just sitting in gardens and flower filled yards soaking up the enchanting atmosphere.

If you spend some time walking around the town, especially near the parish church, St Andrews, and the small streets off the main shopping streets, you will find some beautiful buildings with great character.

Farnham has been an important place for thousands of years. Bronze and Iron Age peoples used it as a junction of track ways, and the Romans used its plentiful clay to make stunning pottery. The Saxons gave it its name.

There are lots of interesting places to visit in Farnham:

The Farnham Pottery in Wrecclesham
Waverley Abbey
Farnham Castle – managed by English Heritage
The Farnham Maltings – the local Arts venue
And not far away:

Gilbert White's house at Selbourne (25 mins away)
Jane Austen's house at Chawton (15 mins away)
Alice Holt Forest
Birdworld (near Borden)
Some guests enjoy walking along the footpaths across farmland and hills just near Dove House, enjoying the views over the town and the rural landscape of Hampshire and Surrey. "
