Marlborough House

1 of 4

Description

" Marlborough House is an enchanting, small establishment owned and operated by Peter Moore in a friendly and informal style.

Located close to the heart of Georgian Bath, and all the major attractions, this large and impressive stone Victorian house has well proportioned and spacious rooms which are all furnished with antiques to create that individual period atmosphere.

Built in 1867, Marlborough House is situated in the very centre of Bath, close to Queen Square and at the edge of Royal Victoria Park. A short stroll up Marlborough Lane will lead you to the gates of this lovely park, where Royal Avenue presents a panoramic view of the gracefully imposing Royal Crescent, a fine example of Georgian architecture. Only a few steps further will bring you to Baths' famous Circus and the centre of historic Bath, altogether a 5 minute walk from Marlborough House.

Marlborough House has six bedrooms; every one handsomely furnished with antiques and containing either an antique wood four-poster, or a Victorian brass and iron bed.

Each room is unique, and all are lovely, comfortable, scrupulously clean, and provided with complementary sherry and an abundant hostess tray.
Each room has:

A direct dial telephone
High speed Internet access - Wi Fi
Alarm / Radio / Hair dryer
Colour television with remote control.
Guests might desire to stay the morning in the luxury of their room, where breakfast is available by room service.

Marlborough House is non-smoking throughout, as the proprietors and staff strive to keep the hotel environment as congenial as possible for all the guests (from the halest-and-heartiest to those who are allergic or chemically sensitive), keeping the rooms exquisitely clean using only ecologically sound cleaning products and by providing organic herbal toiletries for the guests' use.

We look forward to welcoming you! "

Attractions

" Bath is a small, but cosmopolitan and lovely city. With its architectural integrity and the golden hue of its stone, it is like a jewel set within the verdant rolling hills of the West County's pastoral landscape. Bath, with it's mineral hot springs, renowned for over two millennia, is the ancient urban centre of an archeologically rich historical setting that stretches back to the Roman era and beyond. As such, it is the perfect base from which to explore other nearby historical sites, all within 45 minutes of Marlborough House: Stonehenge, Wells, Glastonbury, Lacock, Castle Combe, Cheddar Gorge, or Longleat, the spectacular home of the Marquis of Bath.

Peter is happy to offer guidance for the best routes and itineraries to explore Bath and the surrounding area, or for suggestions on the array of the city's fine restaurants.
