Description

" Morven bed and breakfast in Forres is a Victorian house built in the 1890’s. We are a small family friendly business in the Market Town of Forres. Morven bed and breakfast is situated just off Forres High Street. The guest rooms are decorated to a comfortable style with Central Heating, Television and Welcome Tray. We have 2 Twin rooms Ensuite & 1 Twin Standard with whb. Private shower/Bathroom. A Private Car Park to the rear of the house and a garden and Patio area to the front.

Morven is 7 minutes walk approx from the Railway Station and 2 minutes walk from the High Street

Trains and Buses run from Inverness & Aberdeen stopping in Forres High Street. (Inverness Airport is 22 miles & Aberdeen Airport 70 Miles approximate). "

" Golf Couses, Fishing, Castles, Whisky Trail, Beaches, Woodland walks, Horse Riding, Sailing and Wind Surfing at Findhorn Yaght Club the Caingorms Mountains are 33 miles away and Inverness 26 miles. There is so much more to this wonderful part of Scotland

Forres is an ideal base to enjoy the surrounding countryside including Aviemore just 35 miles; you can ride the Funicular Railway travelling to the top of the Cairngorms and visit Landmark Forest Theme Park at Carrbridge. Morayshire offers Castles, Beaches, Parks, and Golf, The whisky Trail starts here!

Forres Falconer Museum on the High Street has a display of the late Roy Williamson’s folk memorabilia from the “Corries” life history a singer and songwriter (noted for “Flower of Scotland”)

Close by you will find Forres Grant Park that over the years has been awarded many “Britain in Bloom” trophies for the beautiful floral displays. “Nelsons Tower” stands on Cluny Hill over looking the park, this memorial was built to honour Lord Nelson and from this point it is possible to enjoy the views over looking Findhorn Bay and the Moray Firth. This estuary has become the unusual home place of Seals and Dolphins, which can be seen from the Spey Bay Moray Wildlife Centre or by boat from Inverness Harbour.

On the way to Findhorn Village 4 miles approx. you pass through Kinloss Village where to your right is an Abbey founded by King David in 1150, the Abbey is well worth a look. The monks lived at the Abbey Inn over to your left and travelling along this road to Findhorn Village you pass the “Findhorn Foundation” a spiritual community and at the centre “Universal Hall” hosts a wide range of event’s Film, Music and Theatre Productions.

Findhorn Village is1 mile further along this road, Findhorn has long stretches of beautiful beach and good places to eat where you can watch some spectacular sunsets along its coast. Findhorn has a Yacht Club and Water Sports Centre Open during the summer months.

The A96 situated to the west of Forres 4 miles toward Inverness is Brodie Castle, set within some most beautiful parkland. Brodie Country Fare is close to the castle, a good place to shop, eat and browse. On this same route 5 miles further towards and through Auldearn village you come to Cawdor Castle again a beautiful place, mentioned in Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”.

Forres gives you a wide range of activities: Try something really different on your holiday. Burgie Riding Centre 3 miles offers you Group & Private Lessons plus Hacking, Local fishing, Walks in the Community Woods at Culbin and Sanquhar, Golf Course at Forres, Kinloss, Elgin, Nairn and a Golf Range and Links at Lossiemouth. The Loft towards Elgin has an outdoor centre with quad bikes, fishing etc. There are two local distilleries: Ben Romach which re-opened again 12 years by HRH Prince Charles after a long closure is one of the smallest working distilleries in Scotland. Dallas Dhu distillery just outside Forres also has a visitors centre open seasonally. "
