Ascot House
Ascot House is a family run 4 star Silver Award Guest House in the historic city of York with twelve en suite bedrooms.
We are also proud to announce that we are winners of the Tripadvisor "Certificate of excellence award 2012" and a Visit England "Breakfast Award"
There is easy access to the centre of the city by a 15 minute walk or 3 minutes on the bus which passes the front door. Our private enclosed car park allows you to forget the problem of parking and really relax.
There is a spacious and comfortable residents lounge where you can relax, watch television or enjoy a drink from the 'Butlers Pantry' courtesy of our residential licence. Tea and coffee are also served throughout the day in the lounge.
Delicious traditional and vegetarian breakfasts are served to you in our attractive dining room. Continental options are also available from our buffet with generous portions to start your day.
Ascot House stands next to public gardens with two tennis courts and two fine bowling greens, There is a nearby pub offering good food, and also within walking distance are an excellent range of restaurants we can personally recommend to suit all palates and pockets, as well as theatres and wine bars. There are a variety of different events happening all year round.
Should you wish to see a little more of Yorkshire, the Dales to the west, the Moors to the north or our beautiful Yorkshire coast are but each an hour's drive away.
At Ascot house we have 12 en suite bedrooms. All have central heating, televisions, free internet access, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers.
On the ground floor there are two comfortable rooms, a twin room with a shower and toilet, and a double with bath and toilet. These rooms are especially useful for guests who do not wish to climb stairs. The rooms do not qualify as 'suitable for the disabled' as access to the front of Ascot house is up a few steps.
Climbing the beautiful pitch pine staircase, the half-landing boasts an extremely rare and unusual curved stained oriel window. When on a sunny day, a cascade of colours light up the stairs on to the first floor where you will find seven spacious bedrooms, all with fourposter or canopy beds.
A further staircase leads to the top floor where we have four more good sized en-suite bedrooms.
The Wood Family are always on hand to help you plan your visit to our historic City.
York has so much to offer with its narrow streets and medieval churches. Award winning attractions with the Roman, Viking and National Railway Museums and of course, the Minster are all close by.
York is also famous for our Race Course with race meetings throughout the warmer months of May through to October. The world renowned Ebor meeting is the most popular, if you are wishing to stay during any of the race meetings you will have to
book well in advance.
