Ashgrove House
Plymouth is uniquely situated in the glorious South West. To the 'front' of the city is Plymouth Sound and the English Channel, to the west the River Tamar and Plym form the natural boundary between Devon and Cornwall. Inland is Dartmoor National Park.
Being a major fishing port, fish are landed and auctioned regularly at the market.
Adjoining the market is the Aquarium, famous for having the deepest tank in Europe, housing species from "tidlers" to fearsome Tiger Sharks.
Pleasure boats will take you round the Docks and Warships, or fishing if you prefer. The Naval Dockyard is a 10 minute drive from the Hotel.
The Theatre Royal where West End shows are frequently shown, and Pavillions/Conference Centre is just a few minutes walk away.
HMS Raleigh is approximately 20 minutes drive from the Ashgrove Hotel.
A walk around the cobbled streets and alleyways of the ancient Barbican will take you back in time.
Tall ships races start here as do numerous sailing events throughout the year.
To the north of Plymouth lies the rugged wilderness, Dartmoor National Park. Totally unspoilt moorland and breathtaking scenery with huge granite outcrops, rivers and streams will make you wonder at nature at her most awesome yet beautiful.
There are a number of wonderful beaches in Devon & Cornwall, within a 45 minute drive from the Ashgrove Hotel. Some good examples are Whitsand Bay and Wembury.
