Barmouth is a harbour town situated at the mouth of Mawddach estuary on the Meirionnydd coast, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park.

The coastline has beautiful sandy beaches and the area is renowned for its outstanding natural and scenic beauty. It offers a wide range of outdoor leisure activities throughout the year and the town is a popular tourist attraction.

The main coast road from Dolgellau to Harlech runs through the town and it is also served by the Cambrian Coast Railway line which connects to main lines through Shrewsbury.
