Kitley House Hotel & Restaurant
The Kitley Estate is a unique environment where, over the centuries, time has almost stood still. The earliest record of the Estate is to be found in the Domesday Book (1086) although the house dates from the Tudor period. With its mile-long drive through glorious Devon countryside it has both the look and feel of a small English stately mansion, but with all the warmth of a family home.
The families that have occupied the house over the centuries have also left their mark in English tradition: one of the Housekeepers at Kitley was the inspiration behind the famous nursery rhyme: 'Old Mother Hubbard'. Penned by Sarah Catherine Martin over 200 years ago, the rhyme has been recited to generations of children around the world.
