Morwendon House (meaning "white wave of the sea") is a high quality licensed guest house which is situated in the quiet village of Llanaber with beautiful views over Cardigan Bay; an ideal base from which to explore and enjoy the delights of this beautiful part of Wales.

Teresa and Geoff are your hosts at Morwendon and will personally ensure that everything possible is done to make your stay relaxing and comfortable. For a taste of quality living in superb surroundings Morwendon House fits the bill perfectly.

Overlooking Cardigan Bay, with beautiful panoramic sea views, this substantial & most attractive house offers comfort, space & style in top quality guest accommodation. It stands in 2.5 acres of gardens, with plenty of areas to sit out and relax.

There is ample private off road car parking. The house has been lovingly maintained and offers guests a spacious drawing room with Sky television, a delightful dining room - both with sea views and six bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and all with views of the sea. Everything you need to relax and enjoy the perfect holiday, Spectacular sea views, amazing sunsets, dolphins and porpoises in the bay, fishing and boating trips from the bustling harbour down in Barmouth, the quaint ferry across the estuary to the narrow gauge Fairbourne railway and barbecues on the terrace and just a five minute stroll down to the beach. Just wonderful!

There are six en-suite bedrooms at Morwendon House one of which can be converted into a twin room. Our superior rooms (Rooms 2 and 3) have lovely bay window seating areas with superb views over Cardigan Bay. All rooms have a view of the sea.

All rooms have en-suite facilities, are centrally heated and have remote control colour TV's with integral DVD players & Freeview (there is a DVD library and these can be borrowed at no extra charge). There are hospitality trays with tea and coffee making facilities. We do not offer the facility of telephones within the rooms as it is nice to get away from the phone when you are on a relaxing break.

Attractions

Morwendon House is ideally situated to explore the wonderful coastline of Cardigan Bay and the Lleyn Peninsula. For a scenic day why not take a coastal train ride? Walk down the path to the side of the house down to the 'Halt' where the train will stop for you and will then transport you up the coastline and along the beautiful Lleyn Peninsula or southwards down to the beautiful unspoilt character of the seaside village of Aberdovey.

There are also many Golf Courses within easy travel distance including Harlech's Royal St David's (10 miles away) which has been described by professionals as one of the worlds toughest par 69 - Special Green Fee rates have been agreed with both Royal St. David's & Aberdovey Golf Clubs for golfers booking through Morwendon House. You will find Morwendon House to be an ideal base for a 2/3 day golfing break being handily situated halfway between Aberdovey and Royal St. David's Golf Clubs. The picturesque and friendly Dolgellau Golf Club is also now available having recently been taken over by Richard Stockdale.

Steam Railway enthusiasts are particularly well catered for in this area. There are approximately 13 steam railway sites within an hours drive of Morwendon House . These include: Bala Lake Railway, Cambrian Railway Society, Corris Railway, Fairbourne Railway, Ffestiniog Railway, Glyn Valley Tramway Museum, Llanberis Lake Railway, Llangollen Railway, Snowdon Mountain Morwendon House garden view north towards HarlechRailway, Talyllyn Railway, Vale of Rheidol, Welsh Highland Railway and Welshpool & Llanfair Railway. If you need directions please ask, we will do our best to help.

Walkers and ramblers are also well catered for in this area. Snowdonia is a short drive away and we are close to the Rhinogs and Cader Idris. Also the walks along the Mawddach estuary can be breathtakingly beautiful.

There are excellent opportunities to study birdlife, many species of duck and wading birds frequent the estuary and the old railway above the wetlands and saltings is an ideal viewpoint. At Penmaenpool is the RSPB bird observatory. According to John Ruskin, there was only one finer walk in the world than that from Barmouth to Dolgellau and that was the walk from Dolgellau to Barmouth.
