We offer comfortable, elegant rooms and personal service in a historic house and with a love of food and cooking, Mary and Hugh create the feel of a small intimate Country House Hotel. Luxury bed and breakfast only two miles from Rye. Great food and wine with out leaving the house.

Strand Guest House Rye has ten bedrooms, all of which are different in character size and style. They range from the luxury four poster Tudor Room to rooms with double beds, king and twin, a garden room on the ground floor and a family room. Two have baths and the rest en-suite showers, all have colour televisions, tea making facilities with hand made biscuits and hanging space. The superior rooms have tables and chairs and fluffy dressing gowns and use of a DVD / video library.

Food is at the heart of Strand House. Ingredients are, fresh, local and cooked with skill and passion by Mary and her team. The menu changes daily depending on what the fishing boats bring into Rye Harbour or the local organic farm has in meat and of course the alchemy of the chef means the menu is always a work in progress!

Breakfast:

A full Sussex breakfast.

Organic local reared sausages and bacon from Food Fore Thought.

Salmon, continental meats.

Veggie breakfast with homemade beans and potato cakes.

Healthy buffet, Northiam Dairy yogurts, Kent Apple juice.

Lunch:

Sandwich plate or Cheese plate.

Packed lunches / picnics on request.

Afternoon tea:

All homemade with Sussex cream. Hand made cakes. Local berries. Strand House special with Champagne.

Dinner:

Strand House dinner a foodies delight! All local and seasonal, changing daily. Organic locally reared meats from Food Fore Thought. Fish from the boats from Rye Bay. All this with 20 years professional experience bring together a dinner to remember.

Local wines and Rother Valley Brewery beers.

Whatever the weather, there are local sights to explore, intimate walks beside the sea or across the beautiful Downs. There are lots of houses and gardens to visit in the local area, vineyards, castles, steam railways to explore and activities such as birdwatching, horse riding and cycling can be arranged.

Strand House is surrounded by countryside and it over-looks flat pasture land to the sea about a mile away. It is next to the Royal Military Canal which is great for walks and we can organise fishing. There are walks into Rye, along the coast to Fairlight and along the South Downs and great British countryside.

Or you can walk into Winchelsea which is a wonderfully preserved medieval town with lots of old buildings and a stunning view of the sea beyond. It is a great area to explore and we have listed some things to do as well as links of potential interest on our website.
