There are many activities locally including walking, riding, cycling, fishing, other special activities, tennis, swimming, and putting on the Manor ground by the sea.
For an easy approach to Lynmouth, the harbour, beach and Watersmeet Valley, there is a pathway opposite our car park entrance for easy walking access to Lynmouth. Or there is the Cliff Railway, approached in a few minutes via Lynton village, providing an easy descent to the Harbour
The famous water-powered Cliff Railway links the twin villages of Lynton & Lynmouth. Completely powered by two large water tanks which let out just enough water to make the highest car heavy enough to move both cars along the track. The railway was given to the twin towns by Sir George Newnes a wealthy newspaper publisher. The train runs on request and operating times vary according to season, but approximately from 9am until dusk.
Nestled beneath the cliffs is the pretty harbour of Lynmouth, the twin village of Lynton. The North Cliff Hotel makes a good starting point for walks to the "Valley of Rocks", "Summerhouse Hill", "Countisbury Foreland Point", "Hollerday Hill" and indeed the many miles of glorious walks within the twin villages themselves.
Wildlife abounds throughout the area, including red deer, ponies, falcons and buzzards. Wild goat herds roam the nearby Valley of the Rocks making this an ideal spot for nature lovers.
