Tom and Lynn welcome you to The Southernhay hotel at any time of the year. We are ideally situated in Westbourne, on the outskirts of Bournemouth, at the head of Alum Chine (A wooded Ravine) leading down to the sea and miles of safe, sandy beaches.

Westbourne shopping centre is only 3 minutes walk from the hotel and Bournemouth town centre is easily reached in minutes by car or the frequent bus service that runs past the hotel.

We have a large, free car park at the front of our hotel. There is also a guest lounge and a comfortable patio area in which to relax.

Breakfast is served in the dining room. There are two sittings, either 8am or 9am, but this can be varied by arrangement. We offer fruit juice, a good choice of cereal and a full cooked English breakfast, including a vegetarian option.

We have a variety of centrally heated basic and en-suite rooms, all having thermostatically controlled radiators. There are tea/coffee making facilities, remote control colour T.V.s, hairdryers, full length mirrors in every room. Our 2 basic rooms have sinks and share a bath/shower room, which is located just along the corridor.

Room rates are from £25 - £35 per person per night.

We are situated in Westbourne, on the outskirts of Bournemouth town centre. Across the road from our hotel a path leads down through the woods to the promenade and beach. Westbourne shopping centre is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Here you can find a wide range of shops, including a few designer clothes shops.

There are a variety of restaurants in Westbourne, including Italian, Indian, Greek, as well as an extremely popular fish and chip restaurant and take-way. There are also several cafe's, three pubs and a wine bar, which have a good selection of reasonably priced meals.

The beaches in Bournemouth stretch for miles. The beach at Alum Chine is easily accessed from our hotel, by crossing the road and following the path through the 'Chines' (a wooded ravine) to the promenade. At the bottom there is a childrens play area with a splash pool open in the summer.

Turning left it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk along the promenade from Alum chine beach to the pier in Bournemouth Town Centre. Alternatively, a right turn at the beach takes you past Branksome Chine and onto Sandbanks in Poole.

Bournemouth Town Centre is only a 5 minute bus ride away.
