Old Town attractions include the award winning Amersham Museum, the Market Hall, St. Mary's Parish Church, the Memorial Gardens and the Martyrs' Memorial (see below). Historically, Amersham was a centre for the 'Lollards'. These were Christians who wished to read the Bible in English and were martyred for doing so during the years 1506 to 1522. The site is only a mile away and is a lovely countryside walk. Guided walks by costumed actors take place in the summer.
