    Elegant Georgian houses and coaching inns record Wincanton's importance as a staging post on the main London to Plymouth road. In the 1600s the town provided stabling for nearly 300 horses. The oldest part of The Nog Inn dates from the 1600's, whilst the frontage is that of the Georgian era. Wincanton makes a wonderful base for exploring this beautiful part of the world. On the edge of Somerset, Wiltshire & Dorset borders & just off the A3030, we are ideally situated to explore amongst other things, Wincanton race course, Haynes Motor Museum, Hauser & Wirth Galleries, The Newt in Somerset, Fleet Air Museum & Stourhead National Trust.
