Description
The Warren Guest House is comfortable and a real home from home for guests. In the 19th century it was trading as the Star Inn, before closing in 1933. Southern terminus of Carlisle Tramways was was nearby. It has been extended and improved a lot since that time, but still has a unique character both inside and outside. It is not known how it acquired the.name of The Warren, but the name has a quirky appeal. The Warren is the first place to stay on Warwick Road, coming in from the M6 Motorway Junction 43 or A69 from Newcastle. Carlisle United football ground is further up Warwick Road. The Sands Centre hosts a full program of musical and theatrical events throughout the year. It is on the West Coast main line between London and Glasgow. Local lines take passengers to Newcastle, Cumbrian Coast, or the famed Carlisle to Settle route. Steam specials run regularly. Flights from Carlisle Airport to Dublin and to London Southend start in June of this year with carrier Loganair. Central Carlisle has a feel of cafe culture, which carries over to a great night time experience. Ample guest parking is available at The Warren.
